At the advice of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), American Airlines will not settle for household dogs and cats that have been sedated or tranquilized. Pets that have been given sedatives or tranquilizers are at the next risk of respiratory and cardiovascular issues at high altitudes. American Airlines won’t knowingly settle for a canine or cat that has been or appears to have been sedated.
With kindness, compassion and flexibility, we can work toward all pets and the folks that love them staying together throughout this disaster. Check together with your local shelter or rescue to see how you can assist them during this disaster. Your generosity might be gratefully accepted, significantly throughout this annoying time. Consider donating supplies, each through your native animal shelter and other agencies like human food banks. Have crates, meals and further supplies readily available for motion and relocation of pets if needed.
